Linda is a planning and local government law solicitor with over 25 years’ experience of the English legal system. As a planning lawyer, Linda deals with the legal aspects of planning proposals; our planning team deals with the planning merits of the same. Together, our planning and legal teams provide the expertise, experience and practical ability to positively promote the best interests of our clients.
Linda spent many years as a senior local government planning lawyer, at three separate local authorities; including a London Borough and a rural authority. During that time, her work included advising officers, advising elected members at committee on a vast range of planning, enforcement and local government related matters; dealing with appeals, drafting planning and other notices, directions and orders, prosecuting offenders and defending authorities against judicial review applications.
Linda left local government in 1999 to establish her legal practice, which has since expanded to include a planning consultancy. She remains the Managing Partner of LSR Solicitors and Planning Consultants.
Linda regularly advises and acts for private clients in respect of a wide variety of planning and local government law matters. These include the legal aspects of planning applications, appeals, lawful development, defending against enforcement action and prosecutions.
Where appropriate, Linda advises upon and instigates judicial review and other legal proceedings against authorities. She advises on and prepares maladministration complaints to authorities and ultimately to the Local Government Ombudsman; she also advises authorities in respect of any maladministration complaint made against them.
Linda advises and represents clients in respect of property law matters, including boundary disputes, trespass, adverse possession, party wall, rights of way and right to light.
Our firm is also instructed by local authorities, to whom Linda provides legal advice and drafting skills in respect of all aspects of planning and enforcement law and practice. Naturally, we ensure that no conflict of interest exists between clients. Linda also regularly delivers planning and enforcement training courses for planning and enforcement officers, tree, listed building and conservation area officers, conveyancers, property lawyers, architects and surveyors.
Linda’s publications include a series of articles for the Law Society’s ‘Property in Practice’ magazine; having been an executive committee member of the Law Society’s Property Committee. She is in the process of writing a planning enforcement manual. Linda is supported by a dedicated hand-selected team, who share the same ethos of providing a top class service aimed at problem resolution in a way that is most advantageous to our clients.
